PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to ensure that the hire contract is correctly and accurately filled in and that all clauses are executed. They will also have the knowledge to provide clients with the pricing of all equipment for hire. This unit standard aims to build high quality hire contract implementation to ensure the quality of the administration of the hire contract within the industry

It will also add value by having more competent people who will have both an enhanced theoretical understanding and the practical ability to understand the functions of the hiring sector

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Completing hire contract
  • Processing administrative duties on hire documentation

  • Demonstrating knowledge of pricing structures 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in computer literacy, numeracy and language and communication at NQF level 2 or equivalent.

  • Hire rates include but are not limited to: daily rates, weekly rates or monthly rates, stand-by/idle, inclement weather, weekend rates and overtime rates.

    All conditions of the hire contract are explained to the customer and verified according to hire contract contexts.

    Contract acceptance is obtained through signatures and in accordance with operational requirements.

    Credit checks are run on customers through appropriate institutions to ensure credit risks are minimised and according to relevant legislation.

    Hire transaction documents are maintained using company systems and procedures.

    Inaccuracies are reflected on hire transaction documents and discrepancies are reported in accordance with administrative procedures.
