PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to prepare equipment and materials, cut, shape, mould and finish modern carcasses, door and drawers.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing equipment, tools and workstation.
  • Selecting and preparing materials.
  • Cutting, shaping and moulding components.
  • Cutting and preparing joints.
  • Selecting and preparing adhesives.
  • Assembling components. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy equivalent to NQF level 2. They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate in Furniture Wood Machining and Cabinet Making, NQF level 2.
