PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners working towards this standard will be working within a golf club environment, specialising in golf retailing, added services to golf clubs, golf coaching, sports science and golf event management, where the acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to one's job. This standard will also add value to individuals who are seeking to develop a career pathway towards an accomplished sports management and sports administration specialist.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Describing and applying knowledge of energy systems requirements for a golfing activity.

    The skeletal system is described in relation to its function and stages of development.

    The axial and appendicular skeleton is explained in relation to golfing movements.

    A working knowledge of bone names is applied and demonstrated in relation to golfing movements.

    The three main types of joints, their shape, movement patterns and range are understood, explained and demonstrated in relation to golfing movements.

    Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and the ATP energy system are described in relation delivery time, advantages, disadvantages and type of physical activity it applies to.

    The Alactic (ATP-PC) energy system is described in relation delivery time, advantages, disadvantages and type of physical activity it applies to.
