PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard forms part of the qualification - National Certificate in Property Practice, registered at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Learners working towards this standard will be learning towards the full qualification, or will be working within a Property Environment, specialising in either Property Management or Estate Agency Sales or Rental, where the acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to their understanding of the sector and functioning in the workplace. This standard will also add value to learners who are starting or working in their own Property and/or Real Estate business.

The purpose of this standard is to introduce learners to the routine administrative systems, policies and procedures that enable efficient real state practice.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Creating, maintaining and updating client/tenant records.
  • Recording and maintaining the use of statements to enhance financial operating performance.
  • Monitoring the payment of outstanding monies due to the organisation.
  • Understanding and complying with property administrative systems, policies and procedures. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • An understanding of day-to-day property business operations and concepts.
  • An understanding of the organisations IT systems and procedures.
  • Computer literate and competent in using property related software.
  • To be able to communicate both verbally and in writing in English to the equivalent of NQF Level 3. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Client/tenant information including name, address, contact details, language, rent, bond, income, word details and marital status.
  • Administrative documentation including client/tenant record card, application forms, payment details and non-payment letters.
  • Systems, policies and procedures include administration and documentation of property valuation services, steps in the process of the sale, transfer and registration of property, property inspections, marketing, steps in the process of development, property management.
  • Pertinent regulations, policy, legislation, plans and other documentation relating to land use and planning control, purpose of expropriations, restitutions, township establishment, change of land use, integrated development plans, land development objectives, town planning schemes, building regulations.
