This unit standard is for learners who have to demonstrate the ability to conduct a base-line risk assessment in a work place.

Learners credited with this unit standard are capable of:
  • Explaining the specified requirements needed to conduct an issue-based risk assessment.
  • Preparing and conducting an issue-based risk assessment.
  • Initiating remedial and follow-up action for hazards identified and risks assessed.

    Information needed for the issue-based risk assessment process is explained with reference to specific hazards and the associated risks.

    The importance of identifying, dealing with and reporting hazards according to specified requirements is explained.

    The sequence of control measures applied in dealing with hazards confirms understanding and is consistent.
