PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable the learner to be able to monitor clearance and hard and soft counts in the prescribed environment. The learner should understand the importance of surveillance, security and accuracy when monitoring clearance and count procedure.

On achievement of this unit standard, the learner will be able to:
  • Monitor the count and clearance procedure.
  • Identify record and report any irregularities in count and clearance procedures.
  • Report variances in count and clearance procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Gaming Board requirements and company procedures for the monitoring of the count and clearance procedure are understood and implemented accurately when monitoring the count and clearance procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The count and clearance procedure is monitored accurately according to relevant policy and procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The importance of accuracy is explained when monitoring the count and clearance procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The relationship between clearance, currency count rooms and surveillance department is described in monitoring the procedure. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Identify and record any irregularities in count and clearance procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The problem of irregularity at a cash counter, during the currency count room procedure is identified and the appropriate steps are taken. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Clearance in accordance with company procedures is monitored and currency canisters are identified to record all irregularities. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The movement of count and clearance is monitored when tokens are disbursed and cash is handled to keep a record of any irregularity. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Report variances in count and clearance procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The count procedure is reported on in accordance with company procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    All irregularities are recorded and reported on including personnel responsible for slots and tables currency canisters, alarms and recordings. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Clearance procedure for new machine testing and possible machine malfunctions is reported and variances are investigated thoroughly.
