PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This unit standard ideals with the knowledge and skills required to manufacture a range of hose products that are used in a number of environments for various commercial, industrial and other purposes. The production process involves a number of steps to ensure that the product meets the customer's specifications.

Qualifying learners are able to:
  • Obtain extruded material for manufacture of hose.
  • Apply reinforcements in line with product and process specification(s).
  • Apply cover to the hose product in line with product specifications.
  • Wrap hose with appropriate material.
  • Cure hose products to meet product and process specifications.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2.
