PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons responsible for receiving slurry and controlling deposition of the slurry onto the tailings dam by means of cycloning, raising the walls, controlling the pool and decanting the supernatant water. A person credited with this unit standard can:
  • Demonstrate knowledge relating to the deposition of tailings.
  • Prepare to deposit tailings.
  • Deposit tailings by means of the cycloning method.
  • Complete duties pertaining to the deposition of tailings.
