PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons in the Electrical Engineering; Generation; Distribution; Transmission, Construction and Renewable Energy Sector A person credited with this unit standard will be capable of:
  • Plan to Install and / or replace an electrical metering units or measuring instruments
  • Install a metering unit or measuring instrument.
  • Replace a metering unit or measuring instrument.

    This unit standard will contribute to the full development of the learner within the electrical engineering and construction environment by providing recognition, further mobility and transportability within the field of Physical Planning and Construction. The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and upliftment within the electrical engineering and construction environment.

    1. The re-energizing of the circuit is ensured and correct operation of replaced metering unit or measuring instrument is verified.

    2. All waste materials or scrap materials and equipment are discarded as per environmental / safety policies and standards. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3. All tools and equipment is checked, cleaned and stored correctly as per work site standards and procedures.

    4. Workplace restored to original state as per housekeeping standards and work site procedures and standards.

    5. All relevant administration such as Job card, is signed off and submitted. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited as a provider through the relevant ETQA by SAQA.
