PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to prepare effective and practical aids to assist learner achievement in development practice projects.

The learner will also be able to present a variety of information coherently and logically to masses of community learners from different backgrounds and orientations. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
A learner studying towards this standard is assumed to have a good understanding of the planning of learning programmes, have a sound knowledge of the community and be involved in development practice.

In addition, the learner is assumed to have obtained a Level 4 qualification in development practices. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • The competence gain here may be limited to the prepare materials and aids for learning programmes but can also be used for the assessment acquiring coordination skills.
  • The focus of material preparation is based on a define limitation of the community adult education programme outcome and is undertaken for learner support or guidance.
  • The focus of materials design should be debated in terms of its longer-term impact on learner achievement especially with community learners with a variety of skills and levels of learning.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Accredited providers may establish or refine moderation procedures and systems in line with the requirements of the relevant ETQA.

    An external moderator may moderate the results of learners. External moderators should provide reports not only on the fairness and consistency of assessment, but also on the validity of the assessment design in terms of the specified outcomes.

  • UNIT STANDARD ASSESSOR CRITERIA 
    Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard could be employed as a development practitioner in the same provider institution with at least a level 6 Qualification and work with a registered assessor in development practice with the relevant ETQA.

    Registered Assessors must have a level 6 qualification in development practice and prior or concurrent experience as a development practitioner.
