PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are, or who wish to be employed in the work of facilitating the final release and delivery/ shipment of goods that have been imported and exported by airfreight.

Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to analyse customer needs; develop and initiate procedures for the timeous local clearance and delivery / shipment of cargo imported and exported by air, using a network of Carrier and Customs contacts. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed in a structured work context with minimal supervision, which allows for learners to operate under self-direction and take full responsibility for all expected outcomes.

1. Apply knowledge and understanding of the industry processes and procedures used in the securing of documents and administration of shipment files, in the initiating and monitoring of document flows.
2. Apply knowledge of the processes and procedures used in the tracing and tracking of cargo, as well as carrier and Customs procedures, in the expediting of the movement of cargo through the local transport chain.
3. Apply knowledge of carrier procedures and buyer`s obligations under INCOTERMS to verifying source documentation, payment of third party charges and invoicing instructions.
