PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Metallising treated paper rolls to the prescribed quality standards to ensure availability for the slitting process. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 2.
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on metallised paper.
  • Knowledge of preparing a metallising machine for production.
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the manufacturing of the metallised rolls after preparation of the metalliser.

    Material includes different grammage metallised papers, masking tape, aluminum wire, graphite foil, graphite paint, and evaporator boats.

    Equipment includes, but is not limited to, expansion shafts, cores, special tools, hoisting equipment and pallet trucks.
