PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is for learners who use a computer in a business environment. It is an introduction to basic computer literacy.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Demonstrating the basic functions of a presentation package.
  • Creating a presentation for a specific purpose.
  • Managing files in a presentation package.
  • Preparing the presentation environment. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners should:
  • Hold a GETC or equivalent qualification; or
  • Be competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The typical scope of this Unit Standard is:
  • Different kinds of documents include, but are not limited to, slides, slide shows, organisation charts, logos, graphics, brochures, handouts, notes and flow charts.
  • Information on the screen includes, but is not limited to, menus, toolbar, views, scroll bars, bars, objects, buttons and icons.
  • Use of templates includes, but is not limited to, company, package and creating a new template.
  • The relationship between purpose and layout includes, but is not limited to, colour, font style and size, background, types of graphics and sound.
  • Layout options and conventions include, but are not limited to, bullets, numbering, use of graphics, charts, organograms, fonts and objects.
  • Previewing and distributing a document includes, but is not limited to, CD, email, disc, printed hardcopy, slide show and slide.

    The default options are explored and changed to suit own preferences.
