PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard forms part of the National Certificate in Auctioneering Support. This Unit Standard is designed for all people who have to deal with clients in the Auctioneering industry and who have to explain how auctions are operated.

The qualifying learner is capable of
  • Greeting clients and communicating effectively with them
  • Ascertaining clients' needs and showing items to be auctioned
  • Describing auction procedures according to organisational requirements 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this Standard should be competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Types of auctions will include one party, consignment, catalogue, antiques, general merchandise, real estate, liquor, specialised merchandise and motor vehicles
  • Clients would include new, regular, walk-in, expected and unexpected
  • Body language will include gestures, eye contact, and body posture
