PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Describing the properties and characteristics of fresh and hardened concrete; concrete materials and their application in concrete mix design.

Learners will also be able to apply mathematical practices for sampling and testing the quality of concrete

The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved.

Learners who master the applied competence described in this unit standard will contribute to the development of a professional community of construction concreting practitioners within the Civil Engineering sector who are able to who are able to competently use science and technology when carrying out sampling and testing of concrete quality.

The contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners will be able to undergo RPL-assessment and thereby receive recognition for previous learning and experience. This in turn will enhance the employability and career prospects of learners employed in this sector.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
Assessment against this unit standard must be undertaken on site. On site refers to a wide range of building and construction environments within which trade skills are required, and includes concrete production and concrete construction sites.
