PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner is capable of:

Supervising the planning, preparation, installation and post-installation of pre-cast concrete elements ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, specifications and industry standards. Demonstrate techniques for marking out structural profiles in the correct positions and dimensions. Demonstrate knowledge of SABS tolerances for erected elements in relation to line, radius, plumb and specified dimensions.

The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved.

Learners who master the applied competence described in this unit standard will contribute to the development of a professional community of Civil Engineering Construction Concreting practitioners who are able to effectively supervise the installation of precast concrete elements ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation and completed in accordance with specifications and industry standards

The contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners will be able to undergo RPL-assessment and thereby receive recognition for previous learning and experience. This in turn will enhance the employability and career prospects of learners employed in this sector.
