PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to perform corrective preventive maintenance on electrical points according to prescribed corrective tasks, by applying signalling engineering practice. The learner will also be able to identify, prioritise and report any potential failures. This will ensure the availability of functional electrical points as required which contribute in part to a reliable railway signalling system, safe and efficient train operations and effective rail transportation.
