The person credited with this unit standard is able to effectively identify repair requirements and carry these out safely and cost effectively.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying nature of damage.
  • Determining repair requirements.
  • Carrying out upholstery repairs. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy equivalent to NQF level 3.
  • They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate in Furniture Upholstery (Wood) at NQF level 3.

    Repair options and alternatives are identified and evaluated for feasibility according to organisational constraints and requirements.

    Tools, equipment and materials required to carry out repairs, are selected and prepared.

    Repair requirement which provides optimum cost effective solution is identified and confirmed as required with relevant personnel.

    Repair information is accurately recorded onto appropriate documentation.

    Repairs are monitored for damage type, frequency, likely cause and production errors.
