The person credited with this unit standard is able to provide the necessary and appropriate systematic support to the client after the completion of a consulting engagement so as to ensure sustainability as well as a long-lasting client-consultant relationship.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Assessing the effectiveness of the solution implemented during the consulting engagement.
  • Researching the client's requirements following the close-out of a consulting engagement.
  • Developing an "optimising model" for the change project.
  • Assisting the client in sustaining the implemented change.

    Assess the effectiveness of the solution implemented during the consulting engagement.

    A set of probes and questions are prepared for administration to the client verbally or in written format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Answers and/or responses relating to the effectiveness and sustainability of the implemented changes are obtained from the client and end-users of the solution and recorded in the required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Collected data is analysed within required timeframe in order to manage an up-to-date documentation system. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Research the client's requirements following the closeout of a consulting engagement.

    Research data is interpreted to determine ongoing client needs within the required time frame.

    Appropriate logical conclusions are drawn from this analysis and reported to client in required format.

    A model for optimising and sustaining the implemented change is developed and agreed upon between consultant and client, in line with the service ethic espoused by the consulting firm.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The precise nature and extent of post-engagement consulting intervention(s) are agreed upon between consultant and client in terms of the chosen "optimising model".

    Agreement is documented in accordance with organisational requirements and in line with organisational standards. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A formal contract is completed in line with organisational policies and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Actions to be performed by the consultant to fulfil the commitment to provide after-sales support to client are recorded in the required format and time frames.

    Actions are implemented and monitored in line the organisational practices and action plan.
