PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner credited with this unit standard will be able to erect, assemble and fit OHTE steelwork under isolated and earthed conditions safely and efficiently thus contributing to the safe running of electric trains as well as ensuring the continuity of power supply in the rail sector.

Successful learners may be certified by the Rail authorities as competent to erect, assemble and fit OHTE steelwork under isolated and earthed conditions. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is assumed that learners are already competent in the following:
  • Train working rules.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF level 2.
  • Communication at NQF level 2.

    Tools, equipment and material are obtained and verified for correctness.
