PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who are entering the filed of general draughting require the skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard.

Qualifying learners can understand how to plan and schedule for workflow processes. This will include monitoring the achievement of the workflow plan and document the best practices from the work undertaken within the draughting environment.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2.

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE
The ranges, as indicated under the specific outcomes, determine the scope and level of this unit standard:
  • The learner should be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Work is generally, but not exclusively, carried out in a team environment.
  • Applicable draughting procedures are followed and understood.
  • Characteristics of the different materials are included.
  • Different cutting machines and basic welding techniques are included.
  • Drawings include mechanical and building.

  • Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria:

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1
Understand planning and scheduling of the workflow processes.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1
Boundaries of the workflow are explained.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2
Workflow process constraints, assumptions and deliverables are explained.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3
The importance of planning and scheduling work is explained in relation to organisational requirements.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4
A list of activities to plan and schedule the work is produced in the required format and within agreed time frames.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2
Plan and schedule workflow according to organisational requirements.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1
Time duration estimates are produced to show workflow processes.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2
Workflow schedule is developed within agreed time frames and format.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3
Workflow plan is outlined and agreed with stakeholders within agreed plan and timeframes.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4
Necessary facilities and resources are arranged in accordance with workflow plan.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3
Monitor the achievement of the workflow plan.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1
Progress towards delivery of the drawing is communicated according to agreed communication channels.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2
The impact of delays is assessed and findings communicated according to agreed communication channels.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4
Work safely with due care for self, fellow workers and equipment.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
