This Unit Standard requires learners to be able to prepare, implement and co-ordinate a personal gravimetric sampling programme and calculates exposure risk.

  • Explaining the specified requirements pertaining to a personal gravimetric sampling programme.
  • Preparing programme.
  • Implementing and co-ordinating programme.

    Information is obtained regarding work place layouts, labour breakdown, statistical populations, homogeneous exposure groups, sampling areas and shifts worked.

    The samples required to be taken, are according to specified requirements.

    The importance of collecting samples is explained in terms of the consequences to health.

    A sampling schedule is compiled and submitted for approval according to specified requirements.

    The importance of compiling and submitting the schedule is explained in terms of the consequences to health and safety.

    The work is performed in a manner that will foster teamwork and avoid conflict.

    The importance of determining exposure risks is explained in terms of the consequences to health.

    The recording and reporting of pollutant concentrations and exposure risks are in accordance with specified requirements.

    Reports are complete, accurate, in the required format, and submitted to designated personnel on time.
