PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners in the law enforcement environment who demonstrate understanding of the principles of common law crimes and statutory law offences.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Differentiate between statutory and common-law crimes.
  • Determine whether a crime has been committed in a given case study.
