PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard forms part of the qualification GETC: Manufacturing, Engineering and related activities and is specifically for learners working in the informal sector who are currently operating, or who wish to start, their own garment making business.
The qualifying learner is capable of: |

Cut out garment parts using a commercial pattern. |

Fabric is laid according to cutting requirements. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
Correct pattern pieces are placed and secured on fabric according to cutting specifications and achieving optimum fabric utilisation. |

Appropriate cutting tools are selected according to cutting requirements. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 |
Garment parts and notches are accurately cut according to pattern requirements. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 |
Cut garment parts are bundled ready for sewing according to sequence of sewing operations. |
