PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners in the field of industrial rubber manufacturing require the skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard in order to ensure a quality product.

Qualifying learners can recognise, interpret and respond to changes in the normal running conditions of an industrial rubber manufacturing process. They will understand the importance of timeous response and how it is achieved. This will include monitoring the industrial rubber manufacturing equipment and product-in-process and identifying product non-conformances.

The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the National Certificate in Rubber Manufacturing (Mixing, Extruding, Moulding or Calendaring) (NQF level 2) and related qualifications. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for producing product in an industrial rubber manufacturing setting.

The credits allocated to this unit standard assume that a learner has already learned to:
