PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard will be able to create a safe and secure environment for assets in transit during collection, in-transit and delivery operations. The emphasis in this unit standard is not on the actual assets in transit operations, but rather on the support services which can be rendered. Very often the success of assets in transit operations depends on the support services which support the operations. The person will also be able to contribute to safety and security within the assets in transit environment or national cash management system.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Preparing for tactical support duties within the asset in transit environment.
  • Describing the execution of collections, in transit and delivery operations.
  • Explain the provision of support to assets in transit operations during emergencies.

    Tactical instructions are interpreted in order to establish the duties which should be carried out.

    Describe the execution of assets in transit operations. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Consequences of non-compliance with organisational procedures are described in terms of their effect on the security aspects of the operation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Surveillance and counter surveillance measures are used to reduce vulnerability. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Immediate remedial measures to rectify non-compliance are explained in terms of their influence on reducing vulnerability. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Remedial measures could include but are not limited to: Evasive tactics, activation of security systems, adjust speed of vehicle, exit the incident zone and drive to appropriate safe area.

    Security breaches are identified in order to inform which actions should follow in accordance with set standards and procedures.
