PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who demonstrate competence as described in the outcomes of this unit standard will be able to perform on-site analysis of process materials in a chemical processing plant.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Understand and explain safe working practices in a plant laboratory.
  • Handle laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs.
  • Handle laboratory chemicals in accordance with SOPs.
  • Conduct tests and take readings in accordance with specifications and work policies and procedures.
  • Analyse and record data obtained from tests.

This will ensure that the onsite analysis of process materials in a processing operation is performed in accordance with procedures and accepted work practices.
