PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons who perform various functions that are supported by the ability to install cable of different types. This unit standard will provide learners with knowledge and skills to terminate and secure cabling from point of origin to termination point using different methods.

Learners will be able to identify and select cable types and methods of termination in line with operational requirements.

Learners accredited with this Unit Standard will be capable of:
  • Describing cable types.
  • Applying cable termination methods.
  • Securing cabling from point of origin to termination point. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Communication, NQF Level 2.
  • Mathematical Literacy, NQF Level 2.
  • Unit Standards which include the use of hand tools at a minimum of NQF Level 1 and the use of power tools at a minimum of NQF-Level 2.

    Types of terminations may include but are not limited to the following: Soldering and crimping and screwing. Termination integrity refers to but is not limited to conductivity, appearance and connectivity.

    Cable labeling methods are described in terms of when and how they should be be used.
