PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner achieving this unit standard will be able to plan, co-ordinate and execute all relevant logistical requirements of sending a team on tour either nationally or internationally. The learner will achieve this through organizing and managing appropriate travel arrangements whilst ensuring that the team and supporting staff adhere to all legal, customs and other requirements.

The learner will, furthermore, be able to ensure that all necessary support services are available not only to team and supporting staff, but also to team supporters. This unit standard, combined with other core and elective standards in coaching, fitness or recreation will provide the learner with the competence to practice relevant skills.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Collect and manage personal information relating to the team members.
  • Plan for the travel requirements of a team.
  • Organise and schedule the logistical and legal requirements.
  • Co-ordinate athlete and team support.
  • Manage sport kit and equipment.

    In addition, the learner will be well positioned to extend his or her learning and practice into other areas of Sport or Fitness disciplines, or to strive towards professional standards and practices at higher levels.

    Criteria are identified and a plan is written for travel, accommodation and transport requirements of the team and the tour. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Transport to and distances from mall/facilities, dining facilities, playing fields and other participation facilities, stadiums and halls.

    Team support facilities and their location or ease of access are considered in the travel plan.

    Travel arrangements are planned and coordinated in consideration of all the components of the tour.

    Information is accessed and interpreted into a written itinerary.

    The fitness and nutritional needs are coordinated in accordance with the training and nutritional requirements of the athletes or team members.

    Manage sport kit and equipment.

    Appropriate team kit is identified and logged to adhere to competition requirements.

    Branding and marking are identified to align to the requirements of the governing body.

    A kit check list is compiled to meet the needs of the individuals in the team and their sport.

    Sport kit and equipment transport plan is drawn up to cater for freighting and safety of equipment.

    The plan includes contingencies for the non arrival, loss or non availability of equipment or kit.
