This unit standard is to introduce the fundamental concepts of extension to learners.

Learners credited with this unit standard will be able to know, understand and apply Fundamental concepts of extension in:
  • Southern African development context.
  • Different Extension systems in Southern Africa.
  • Factors influencing human behaviour.
  • Credibility and accountability in Extension.

    This unit standard will contribute to the qualitative development of learners by providing progression to this NQF Level within the Extension environment. Recognition, further mobility and transportability within this field are accommodated. The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and development within the development sector.
