PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for extension delivery to do networking and develop linkages.

Learners credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Identify and establish networks.
  • Link clients with service providers.
  • Communicate with clients and service providers.
  • Develop a database.

    This unit standard will contribute to the qualitative development of learners by providing progression to this NQF level within the extension environment. Recognition, further mobility and transportability within the field of extension are accommodated for. The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and development within the economic sector. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners wishing to access this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in communicating verbally and in writing at Level 4 on the NQF or equivalent.

    Databases of service providers and clients are developed as a comprehensive system to service as an effective extension reference tool.

    A comprehensive database of clients is developed and tested to ensure optimal utilization.

    Records and details of links are established and updated in a chronological manner for easy references.

    The functions of different types of databases and their usage is applied to enhance the extension intervention.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed, (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
