This unit standard will be useful to people who are pursuing a career in rock engineering.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Calculate the volumes of simple shapes found in mining excavations.
  • Calculate masses and weights for simple shapes found in mining excavations.
  • Apply the calculations to simple strata control issues.
