PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will contribute to the qualitative development of learners by providing skills and knowledge on guiding communities towards the establishment of sustainable community structures.

The learner will be able to relate to the different needs and sentiments of a specific community as it relates to extension. In addition the learner will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of extension or management and practice at higher levels.

The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to:
  • Apply the fundamentals, theories, and processes of behaviour change.
  • Assess, analyse and interpret situations for which behaviour change interventions would be applied.
  • Select and apply appropriate behaviour change interventions for varied situations among clientele in a simple setting.
  • Select and apply the essential behaviour change tools.
  • Apply the fundamentals, theories, and processes of diffusion of innovations.
  • Apply the fundamentals, theories, and processes of participatory technology innovation/development.
  • Apply the fundamentals, theories, and processes of decision-making among clientele.
  • Engage with assessment/evaluation of behaviour change.
  • Create a foundation for effective extension delivery.

    Behaviour change interventions and tools are selected and applied in accordance with the requirements to of the situation analysed.

    Outcomes of the intervention are evaluated in terms of the anticipated outcomes of the intervention.

    Apply the theories and processes of diffusion and adoption of innovations in varied situations.

    Diffusion and adoption interventions are assessed, analysed and interpreted for specific situations where it would be applicable.

    Diffusion and adoption interventions and tools are selected and applied in accordance with the requirements to of the situation analysed.

    Outcomes of the intervention are evaluated in terms of the anticipated outcomes of the intervention.

    Participatory technology innovation/development and tools are selected and applied in accordance with the requirements to of the situation analysed.

    Outcomes of the intervention are evaluated in terms of the anticipated outcomes of the intervention.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed, (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
