    The nature and properties of the ore deposit are discussed in the context of the surface excavation operations. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Ore Deposit includes but not limited to:
  • Topsoil and overburden.
  • Thickness.
  • Disposition.
  • Topography.
  • Dip/strike.
  • Geology and hydrogeology.
  • Footwall and hanging wall rock formation.
  • Stripping ratio.

    The nature of the mineral is discussed in terms of operational and economic requirements.

    Output requirements relating to the removal of topsoil is discussed in terms of quantities, cost, storage requirements and future application. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Output requirements relating to the removal of overburden are discussed in terms of legal and operational requirements. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Output requirement includes but not limited to:
  • Quantities.
  • Equipment requirements.
  • Costs (labour, consumables).
  • Waste handling and storage requirements.
  • Environmental and rehabilitation.

    Output requirements relating to the extraction of mineral are discussed in terms of economic and operational requirements.

    Strip factors are calculated and explained in terms of the excavation schedule.

    Drill/blast outputs are calculated and explained in terms of production requirements and the excavation plan.

    The availability of plant and equipment is identified and quantified in terms of manufacturers requirements, design factors and maintenance requirements.

    The utilisation of plant and equipment is discussed in terms of production requirements and the excavation schedule.

    Load/haul factors are calculated and discussed in terms of production requirements and the excavation schedule.

    Labour utilisation is calculated and interpreted in accordance with accepted industry methods.
