PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Each learner must be able to clean and restock vending machines in an efficient manner.
The learner must understand the importance of packing the food and drink items correctly and base performance on this knowledge.

1. Explain the interrelationship between completing preparation tasks within time limits and customer satisfaction.

2. Explain the consequences of not securing vending machines.

3. Stress the importance of maintaining a constant stock of drink and food items.

4. Stress the importance of ensuring that there is sufficient change in the vending machine at all times.

5. State organisational procedures for cleaning vending machines and maintaining hygiene standards to avoid cross contamination.

6. State organisational procedures for quality control of drink and food items and stock rotation methods in vending machines.

7. Explain the consequences of not reporting damaged machines/electrical equipment.

8. Explain the importance of handling and disposing waste in a hygienic way.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.

    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be registered with the FE/HE Registrar.

    3. Any institution wishing to receive skill development grants must be accredited with the relevant ETQA. Such an institution will also be registered with the relevant SETA.

    4. Moderation of assessment will be done by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.
