Cutting metals using oxygen fuel gas-cutting processes. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
The learner is assumed to have:

Identify select use and care for tools and equipment
Use agricultural engineering materials
Literacy, numeracy and communication skills at or equivalent to NQF level 1
Attended a course on Introduction to the Agricultural machinery industry.
An understanding of General safety in the work place at NQF level 1
Knowledge in avoiding welding hazards(F1/04/CC/1) 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
The scope of this unit standard deals with Acetylene and L.P. gas, mild and low carbon steels in the context of a workshop environment.

Metals to be cut include but are not limited to mild and low carbon steels.

Main application of gas cutting at this level includes, cutting of scrap metals, cutting to marks on plates, pipes, sections andtrimming panels.

Defect and hazards to be identified include but are not limited to poor connections, damaged hoses, incorrect handling and storage of cylinders, faulty equipment, leaking gauges and flashback arrestors.

The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed without direct supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.

Quality procedures include but are not limited to I.S.O. 9000

An individual wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to an assessor accredited by SETASA.

Any training provider offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be registered and accredited by SETASA.

Moderation of assessment will be done by SETASA in its ETQA capacity at its discretion.
