PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable Construction Contractors to procure, prepare and submit a tender for a construction project. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
FETC NQF Level 2 literacy and numeracy competencies. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
1. Targeted Procurement Policy forms are completed according to all TPP procedures.
2. Tender submission is made according to the instructions to Tenderers in the Project Document.
3. The completed tender document is responsive.
4. Targeted Procurement Policy documents include resource specifications such as TP1 to TP6, and APP1
5. Contract Documents include: General Conditions of Contract, Standard Specifications, Tender or Project documents, (including project specifications, Schedule of Quantities and Tender forms), and the set of Tender Drawings.
6. Tender submission procedures include submitting at the stipulated place, time, and according to the stated format.
7. Preliminary and General pay items in the Schedule of Quantities include Fixed, Time-related, and Value-related items.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
Assessment of learner achievements takes place at providers accredited by CETA (RSA, 1998b) for the provision of programs that result in the outcomes specified for the Certificate in Construction Contracting. CETA is responsible for moderation of learner achievements of learners who meet the requirements of this unit standard.
