This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to replace an in-line ventilation fan in an underground environment.

    3. The replacement in-line ventilation fan is installed in accordance with specified requirements for sequence, alignment and direction of rotation.

    4. Work-related hazards are dealt with in accordance with the prescribed procedures. Risks associated with replacing the in-line ventilation fan are explained.

    1. The unit to be tested is prepared in accordance with specified requirements. This includes verification that the unit has been electrically connected. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. A test-run of the unit is performed to determine whether the replaced in-line ventilation fan is functioning in accordance with specified requirements. The direction of rotation is verified to be in accordance with the specified operating requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3. The workplace is cleared and cleaned so as to be free from hazards, in accordance with specified requirements and good housekeeping practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    4. The selected tools, material and equipment are dealt with in accordance with the specified requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    5. The report on the work performed is compiled in compliance with specified requirements for format, content, accuracy and distribution. The report is submitted within the agreed time.

    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
