PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for persons responsible for the cleaning within a Wholesale and Retail outlet. This is very often according to a pre-prepared roster but need not be so.

Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to identify the areas to be cleaned and to perform housekeeping functions.

    The outside of the store is kept clean and free of litter.

    Cleaning equipment is used according to organisational and manufacturer's requirements.

    Cleaning equipment and/or material is stored in a manner that is not hazardous to the environment or a danger to customers or other staff.

    Where applicable air-conditioning outlets are maintained and are cleaned ion a way that does not disrupt customers.

    Lights and lighting are maintained and faults reported to relevant persons.

    Where applicable housekeeping rosters are adhered to. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Programmes leading to the award of credits from this unit standard will be accredited by the relevant SETA in its ETQA role. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant SETA ETQA.

    Internal Moderations will be performed by the Accredited Providers whilst the relevant ETQA will perform external moderations of assessments across the Accredited Providers according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.
