PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who need to demonstrate knowledge and apply master and subdocuments, fields, forms, outlines and macros and security settings in word processing documents and applications.

A person credited with this unit standard is capable of:
  • Demonstrating an understanding of and use master and sub documents.
  • Using outline options.
  • Creating and use fields.
  • Creating and use forms.
  • Creating and automate tasks using macros. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that the learner is competent in the following:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
  • Communication at NQF Level 3.
  • Knowledge of GUI based database application.

    A master document is created and saved with a specific name in a specific folder.

    Sub documents are created and saved within a specific name in a specific folder. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Subdocuments are navigated within a master document. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Navigated include but are not limited to arranged, opened, closed and deleted.

    Page numbering is applied to a master document and a printout is made in accordance with user requirements.

    Headings are promoted, demoted or moved within an outline in order to meet document requirements.

    The application of macros in a document or all documents in an application is analysed in terms of their use and impact in a word processing environment.

    Macros are created according to user requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Macros are edited in order to change functionality in accordance with requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Macros are assigned to toolbar buttons to facilitate ease of access.

    Macros are run to automate repetitive processes. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    Macros are deleted in accordance with document requirements.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
