PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner will be able to perform the safety procedures for departure, arrival, en route travelling and crossing of trains, according to company-specific train working rules to contribute to the safety of personnel, passengers or freight and safe movement on rail.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Performing procedures and inspections before departure of trains from stations/yards.
  • Performing en route safety procedures.
  • Performing duties at railway line crossing places.
  • Performing arrival procedures at destinations.
