PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner credited with this Unit Standard will be able to conduct appropriate interventions to foster positive workplace relations and select, adapt and implement appropriate best practice approaches to prevent labour disputes. Such interventions and actions will be based on an understanding and interpretation of applicable trends and statistics and best practice. Learners will also be able to prepare and present the relevant information to the various parties so as to aid understanding of the issues at hand thereby helping to prevent and/or resolve labour disputes.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Making information available and creating awareness to prevent disputes.
  • Fostering positive workplace relations.

    Causes of industry specific labour disputes are identified and documented in a written report. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Best practice to prevent disputes is researched using reliable, descriptive, quantitative and qualitative information gathering methods. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Relevant trends and statistics that will affect the parties and/or outcomes to a possible dispute are identified and conclusions drawn to guide future action. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Fact finding techniques are applied to obtain a background to the dispute to address the dispute. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Recommendations based on the identified information and statistics are made to an organisation to guide/amend current practices so as to minimise the possibility of labour disputes and to assist it in dealing with disputes if they arise.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or assessing this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the relevant ETQA.
