PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard introduces time management that will enable learners to be efficient workers in a selected business sector. The focus is knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in relation to the learner`s own context and experience of the world of work.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Creating, maintaining and using a task list to follow up and assist in completing tasks.
  • Receiving and capturing diary information on line, or process it manually.
  • Scheduling time to complete tasks according to specific deadlines and reporting incomplete activities timeously.
  • Planning and following a work schedule.

    1. The value of using and maintaining a task list is known and understood in terms of a specific work context. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    2. Steps or stages are identified in a familiar set of tasks. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    3. Information and documentation required are recorded on the task list and flagged for further action. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    4. Additional information received is captured on line or processed manually. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    5. Completed tasks are reported to the appropriate authority and checked off the task list.

    3. Internal clients are informed of the aspects of the work schedule that affect them.

    4. The schedule is followed and adjusted when necessary to allow for unexpected interruptions. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Accreditation and Moderation:
  • Accreditation for this Unit Standard shall be from the Services Seta Education and Training Quality Assurer (SSETQA) through assessment by a registered Assessor. Assessment should be contextual and be conducted in the workplace as far as possible.
  • Assessors must be registered as an Assessor and Moderators must be registered as moderators with SSETQA.
  • SSETQA will co-ordinate all moderation activities in accordance with their policies and procedures. 

  • UNIT STANDARD ESSENTIAL EMBEDDED KNOWLEDGE 
    The learner can:
  • Apply business procedures in the completion of tasks
  • Apply the use of a diary or electronic diary system 


  • Critical Cross-field Outcomes (CCFO):

    The learner is able to organise and manage his/her own activities including making good use of time and resources through the proper use of a diary system and task list.
